Kayus Mulia holds a degree in architecture
from Aachen, Germany and a BA in photography
from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, USA.
He began his photographic career in 1986 upon
returning to Jakarta, Indonesia where he opened
his own studio specializing in industrial and
automotive photography.
His passion in black and white photography
makes him one among the few professionals still
doing their own processing and printing. For
black and white he prefers to work in the 4x5"
format.
Kayus also held workshops on view camera and
studio lighting and on black and white photography.
For several years he contributed to the Fotomedia
Magazine on black and white photography.
Founder of the Indonesian Photography Professional
Association, he sat as a judge member to Kodak
ASEAN Photo Contest in Malaysia in 1997 and
the annually held Indonesian Salon Photo Contest.
Exhibited with fellow professional photographers
in Jakarta in 1997 and 1998 and Zone3+1 photo
exhibition in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia 1999. Solo
exhibition on images from Bali in 1999 and in
2002 group exhibition on images from Nepal and
Tibet.
